Baltimore Ravens Coach John Harbaugh

Jason Garrett turned down the Baltimore Ravens for position of new head coach. And after eighteen days of searching, their next pick was John Harbaugh. John is the 45-year-old brother of Jim Harbaugh. The Ravens coach was offered a four-year contract to step into the position that Brian Billick held for nine years before being fired December 31st. Harbaugh will be the 3rd head coach in Baltimore Ravens history. He will have the opportunity to work with defensive coordinator Jim Johnson being the Ravens coach.

It is rumored that the Jets have contacted former Ravens coach Brian Billick to coach in New York. Previously in his NFL career, Harbaugh spent 10 years being the Philadelphia Eagles coach. Harbaugh's special teams units were consistently ranked among the NFL's best. In 9 seasons as special teams coordinator, Harbaugh's players earned 15 NFC Special Teams Player of the Week awards: Akers (7), Brian Mitchell (3), Sean Landeta (2), Brian Westbrook (1), Jevon Kearse (1) and Allen Rossum (1). Before becoming the Philadelphia Eagles coach in 1998, Harbaugh spent more than a decade coaching college football.

Since Harbaugh has never been a coordinator on either side of the NFL game it's questionable whether he can manage an entire team. That will be left to be seen when the Ravens play their next NFL season. Although Harbaugh does come from a successful franchise, so he has been witness to a the way a team needs to be coached.
